1. Introduction

Welcome to GCam XML Config (“the App”), developed and published by Apptivize (“we”, “us”, or “our”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices. This Privacy Policy describes what information may be collected when you use the App, how it is used, and your rights in relation to that information.

By downloading, installing, or using the App you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App immediately.

2. Important Notice: Config File Ownership

The GCam XML configuration files (“Configs”) made available through this App are not owned, authored, or claimed by Apptivize in any way. All Configs have been sourced from publicly available sources on the internet (forums, community websites, public repositories, social platforms, etc.) and are listed solely as a convenience for users.

3. No User Accounts

GCam XML Config is a guest-only application. We do not require you to create an account, register, or provide any personally identifiable information (such as your name, email address, or phone number) to use any core feature of the App.

4. Information We Collect

4.1 Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The App stores the following data solely on your device using Android SharedPreferences. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers:

Data Purpose
IDs of Configs you have “Liked” Remembers your likes across app sessions
IDs of Configs you have “Rated” and your star rating Remembers your ratings across app sessions

You can delete this data at any time by clearing the App’s storage: Android Settings → Apps → GCam XML Config → Storage → Clear Data.

4.2 Information Sent to Our Backend Server

When you browse, like, rate, or download a Config file, the App communicates with our backend API server. The following non-personal data may be transmitted:

Data Purpose
Config ID (integer) To fetch Config details, increment/decrement like counts, and record ratings
Download increment signal To track total download counts per Config (no user identity attached)
Device network state Checked locally to detect connectivity; not logged by our server

We do not log your IP address in association with any user profile, and we do not build individual user profiles.

4.3 Information Collected by Third-Party SDKs

The App integrates several third-party SDKs to deliver its functionality. Each SDK may collect data independently in accordance with its own privacy policy. Details are listed below.

4.3.1 Google AdMob / Google Ads Mobile SDK

Used to display rewarded advertisements before Config file downloads.

Google may automatically collect:

Opt-out: You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time via Android Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation (or “Delete advertising ID” on Android 12+).

Relevant policies: - Google Privacy Policy - Google Ads Partner Privacy & Terms

4.3.2 Firebase Analytics

Firebase Analytics may automatically collect:

Relevant policy: - Firebase Privacy & Security

4.3.3 Firebase Crashlytics

Used for automatic crash reporting to help us identify and fix bugs.

Relevant policy: - Firebase Privacy & Security

4.3.4 OneSignal (Push Notifications)

4.3.6 Glide (Image Loading Library)

No personal data is included in these requests beyond what is inherent in any HTTPS connection (IP address, which is processed by the server but not logged against any user profile).

5. Permissions Requested

ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE Allows the App to detect whether an active internet connection is available before making network requests
POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+) Optional — used to show a download-progress notification and to receive OneSignal push notifications
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 9 and below only) Required on older Android versions to save downloaded Config files to the Downloads folder

We request only the minimum permissions necessary to operate the App. No permission is used for data collection beyond its stated purpose.

6. File Downloads

When you download a GCam Config file, it is saved to your device’s public Downloads folder (inside a sub-folder named “GCam XML Files”). These files remain entirely under your control. We do not access, scan, monitor, or transmit any files stored on your device.

7. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal information with third parties, except:

9. Data Security

All API communications between the App and our backend server use HTTPS (TLS encryption). We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information processed by the App. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the App, please contact us at contact@apptivize.com and we will promptly delete it.

Because the App does not collect personally identifiable information tied to you, most data-subject rights (access, correction, deletion) apply primarily to the local on-device data that you control directly.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this document and, where required, notify users via an in-app notice. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
